About Us

We would like to introduce ourselves briefly and show you what it means for us to be a Rotarian.
Rotary Club Hamburg-International

Rotary is an international association of men and women with a common passion: they all want to improve the quality of life around the world through community service:

The concerns of all Rotary clubs are divided into the following 7 areas of focus:

- Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
- Disease prevention and treatment
- Water and sanitation
- Maternal and child health care
- Elementary education, literacy
- Economic and community development
- environmental protection

Individual Rotary clubs are autonomous entities that are also members of Rotary International. Rotary International, headquartered in Evanston, Illinois in USA, is an NGO and is the umbrella organization of all Rotary Clubs worldwide.

Our club feels particularly committed to the internationality of Hamburg as the "gateway to the world". For this reason we have deliberately chosen our club name. Almost all aid projects that we actively support are carried out in needy regions abroad.

Since 2014, we have had the Rotary Club Hamburg-International, which meets weekly on Mondays at 7:30PM. More details can be found at the bottom of our website.

Our members are individuals from a wide variety of professions, numerous nations and diverse cultures. All members have international professional experience and bring international connections to club life. Herein lies a tremendous creative potential that is unleashed through spirited communication at every meeting.

As a rule, club meetings are held in German. We always welcome international guests (e.g. Rotarians from other countries visiting Hamburg) or speakers; then our club meetings are held in English.

Rotary members effect lasting change in their own communities and work with other clubs to carry out international projects that address today's most pressing challenges.

Being a Rotarian is not just about generating financial and in-kind resources for social service projects; it is first and foremost about making a sustained personal commitment to a worthy cause. Individual members of the clubs are helpful, pragmatic, solution-oriented and willing to take pro-active responsibility in the club.

One of the principles of all clubs is the rotation of tasks between all club members, for example by taking over club offices and tasks in the realization of projects. Special emphasis is placed on personal support for service projects.

If you are interested in joining our club, we would be happy to welcome you as a guest at one of our meetings. Please register for this with a lead time of about 2 weeks at sekretariat@rc-hh-international.de.

With Kristin Eichholz, the Hamburg International RC has gained a new club member and, for the first time, one of its members is a teacher.
Kristin Eichholz completed a teacher training course while also pursuing a career as an athlete and coach in the field of competitive swimming for several years. After much consideration, she decided to prioritise her career in teaching. She took up her first position at the comprehensive school in Horn. In 2000, she applied for a position at a school abroad. Since there were no schools of interest at that time, she accepted a position as a local teacher at the newly founded German School Silicon Valley, which was renamed the German International School of Silicon Valley in 2003. In 2009, she returned to Hamburg as deputy ...
